In the earlier centuries, alchemists saw angels in all the elements.

Angels were a part of waking life

Alchemy has a cooperation with creation to allow the soul as spiritual gold.

Where the alchemist tended the sacred fire

 Angels brought light from above

And together they sought the greatest transmutation

As the awakening of the human heart.

And the order of angels  of creation described as follows;

Angels of Fire - flaming angels moving through one another - movement creating spiritual heat

And Light angels arising from bright fire

Angels of Air  as the shadow of light

And Angels of Water - from the pressure of air 

And angels of colour, or earth, as a product of air and water, born out of the movement of light and of fire.

In earlier centuries we used to think about the elements in a  spiritually expanded way.

Angelic forces were integrated into our everyday life.

For the great alchemists angels were not merely messengers from heaven, but companions in the great work.

Angels guided the purification of nature, and the awakening of the soul.
